From richly layered brownies and handmade macarons to custom cakes that double as edible art, Oliver’s Desserts has built a menu around one simple idea: everyone deserves something worth celebrating. The bakery makes its desserts from scratch, offers choices for several dietary needs, and brings plenty of personality to a familiar Cincinnati shopping destination.
A Business Named After Family
Oliver’s Desserts is named after Ashley’s oldest son, Oliver. When she first began the business, he was only about three months old. He is now 15 and occasionally helps behind the scenes, making the bakery’s name an ongoing part of the family story.
Ashley’s path to becoming a professional baker did not begin in a culinary school. She taught herself the craft and built the business gradually by accepting new challenges and learning along the way. Oliver’s Desserts started in her home before expanding into pop-up shops around Cincinnati and later operating from an incubator kitchen.
The business eventually moved into a full storefront on State Route 125, where it remained for approximately five years. Oliver’s Desserts has now been located inside Eastgate Mall for nearly three years, giving customers a place to stop for individual treats, drinks, and custom desserts.
Scratch-Made Desserts for Every Kind of Celebration
Everything at Oliver’s Desserts is made from scratch, including the brownies, cookies, buttercream, macarons, pastries, and custom cakes. Ashley approaches each order as though she were preparing it for someone in her own family. That personal connection has helped the bakery become part of birthdays, weddings, new babies, annual traditions, and other milestones for customers throughout the Cincinnati area.
The menu also includes vegan, gluten-free, and gluten-free sugar-free options. Rather than treating these desserts as an afterthought, the team works to make them look and taste just as appealing as the rest of the bakery case. This allows friends and family members with different dietary needs to visit together while still choosing the dessert they actually want.
What Should You Try at Oliver’s Desserts?
For first-time visitors, Ashley recommends beginning with the Oreo cheesecake brownie. One of the bakery’s original menu items, it combines a dense, chewy brownie with a layer of cheesecake and Oreo crumbles. The brownies are intentionally fudgy rather than cakey, creating the rich texture that has kept them on the menu since Oliver’s earliest pop-up events.
Another longtime favorite is the cookie pie, which takes inspiration from an oatmeal cream pie but offers several different cookie and filling combinations. During UpLift’s visit, Max tried one made with chocolate cookies, homemade whipped buttercream, and a caramel center. The all-butter buttercream contains just five ingredients, including vanilla extract and salt.

Custom cake artistry remains an important part of Oliver’s Desserts. For UpLift’s visit, Ashley created a fully customized cake featuring UpLift’s colors, logo, leaves, and detailed edible decorations. She sketched and created parts of the design by hand, then used chocolate and white chocolate ganache to build the finished look.
The design was only part of the surprise. Inside, the cake featured chocolate cake layered with cookies-and-cream buttercream and pieces of cookie dough. Ashley believes edible art should still taste great, so the same attention given to the appearance carries through to the flavors and textures inside.
